Think N Play Preschool -
Age 3 years: The Butterfly Class

The Butterfly Class children are encouraged to explore, challenged to learn, taught to develop their skills (both physical & mental), and are provided opportunities to gain confidence.

Butterfly Class children expand their vocabulary extensively by storytelling, singing, and talking with the teacher / classmates. Art projects, painting, sand & water table, and cooking projects stimulate the children to continue developing their five senses (feel, smell, see, hear, and taste). They improve & practice their coordination skills through lacing cards, writing, drawing, cutting, and similar. They learn complex games such as with memory cards.

These children expand their social skills and self confidence during group time interacting with the other classmates / teacher, taking turns, sharing, listening, etc. They also expand their social skills during other times at Think N Play by playing table games (memory cards), playing in the Dramatic Play Center, playing in the Blocks Center, and frequent personal interaction with the teacher and other children.

Children in the Butterfly class continue developing gross motor control (major muscle groups such as arms & legs) by throwing, hopping, riding bicycles, kicking, running, and jumping. They have much fun learning how to use colors, numbers and letters. Their teacher reinforces knowledge of colors and shapes through folder games, puzzles, songs, and books. The Butterfly class practices their numbers skill by sorting, grouping, and counting.

The Butterfly Class Teacher is responsible for providing a learning environment in which safe interesting activities are enjoyed while learning progresses. This is another exciting time in your child's life. One in which our Butterfly Class Teacher promotes to its fullest. This teacher provides a portfolio or collection demonstrating development of each child's work to the parent /guardian. The Butterfly Class Teacher is responsible for teaching and caring for each child by using the highest quality standards known - both physically and mentally.

Parents are expected to provide a change of clothes as may be needed. Also, we encourage arrival before 8:30 am as that is the time we serve breakfast. Of course, parents may arrive sooner even as we open at 6:30 am or they may serve breakfast before coming each morning. Learning for children is a continuous process at Think N Play Preschool beginning with your child's arrival whenever that is; but, please be aware that breakfast is over and classroom activities begin at 9 am.

Children are not allowed in the facility while sick, so we strongly encourage parents to follow the same high-quality healthy standards at home as we follow at school. Each day lost is a lost opportunity to learn a bit more. If a parent wants, the Director will take private time to answer questions and provide guidance. Any guidance she may provide will help the child and that helps us all.
